Implications of selfishness

This morning I heard a newsbroadcast that spoke of a family petitioning for the right to have a funeral for their loved one without the presence of protesters. This riled my frustration at a nation of people and a government who will validate one's rights to do something simply because it is a right! What happened to common sense, compassion, and consideratin for others. Yes, we have rights, but we also have responsibilities that go hand-in-hand with those rights. Protesters have the right to protest and have many other places and times where they can do so. What protesters do not have the right to do is infringe and interefere with a time of mourning when friends and family gather to pay their respects and comfort one another. Common decency and respect and the right to privacy should take precedence in this case. When common decency and respect for others gets overruled simply by someone's right to do so, we have lost an integral and ethical part of ourselves. Just because we have the right to do something does not mean it is the right thing to do!!!!!!
